Best Season For Tibet Travel

The climate in highland Tibet belongs to the typical downy special climate. Climates are much diverse in different areas and temperatures vary greatly within a single day. Generally speaking, it is suitable to travel Tibet from Apr. to the early Nov.. Except this period, the temperatures start to plummet. The peak season for Tibet travel is from May to Sep. and the best months are May, Jun., Sep. and Oct. as Jul. and Aug. are rainy months. But different areas have their own golden times:
(A) In Lhasa and the central part of Tibet, the climate is normal and nice for traveling. So if you only plan a Lhasa tour,
you can go there anytime of the year.
(B) Lhasa - Shigatse - Lhatse - Tingri - Nyalam: Along the Friendship highway is basically in good conditions year around. But it is not available for tourists from Dec. to Jan. because of the snowed land; every August, the rain season, landslide will be occurred!
(C) Mt. Everest Area: Early May and early Oct. are the best time to visit Mt. Everest. Due to the clear weather, you have great chance to see Mt. Everest's true face. It will be too cold for tourists to visit this area from Oct. to Apr.!

(D) In northern Tibet, the average temperature is subzero and winter lasts from Oct. to May or Jun.. Since the average altitude is as high as 4,500M, you can only appreciate her beauty in summer! Jul. and Aug. are the best time to visit the area, enjoying warm temperatures, intense sunshine, beautiful scenery, and festive events.

(E) In eastern Tibet, May, Jun. and Sep. are the high seasons to travel there. It will be difficult and dangerous to visit this area in Jul., Aug. and winter, because there will be a terrible landslide in summer and frozen load in winter.


(F) Ali (Mt. Kailash): Every May, Jun., Jul., Sep., Oct. is the best time to visit this area without the trouble of the landslide by the heavy rain and snow.
Although the climate is not as harsh as many people's imagination, it is necessary to be well prepared for the sudden drops of temperature at night, particularly in western Tibet. Pick one time suitable and start your Tibet tour here.
